Winter Red

This card is a larger-sized card and fits in the Stampin' Up! large open-end envelopes that have since been discontinued. I like this sized card since an old fashioned paper-style gift certificate fits inside. I CASE'd this card idea from Melinda Wharton. I added the paper piercing, used a different Cuttlebug embossing folder, different ribbon and added the brad, but really it is Melinda's design.

The card base is Real Red cardstock cut at 9-1/4 inches by 7-1/2 inches and scored along the 7-1/2 side at 3-3/4. It is embellished with a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock that I ran through the Big Shot using the Snowflakes Cuttlebug embossing folder. The snowflakes and deer are from the Winter Post stamp set and are stamped in Real Red on squares of Very Vanilla cardstock. I adhered these to squares of Real Red cardstock and added a bit more texture by piercing holes along the edges using the mat pack and paper piercer from the Stampers' Tool Kit.

The final embellishment is a length of Real Red 5/8 inch grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the Very Vanilla cardstock with a filigree brad and rhinestone brad used to pinch the ribbon just left of center for balance. I didn't photograph the inside, but I adhered Very Vanilla cardstock to the inside on which I stamped a few more Real Red snowflakes and a Christmas greeting.

Happy Stampin'! EdieB
