UDI Color Challenge #116

The Utah Divas International color challenge this week is Marina Mist, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue, River Rock and Whisper White. Of course, this mix of Soft Subtles inspired me to make a baby card.

The card that I made for you features a focal image from one of my favorite sets, Button Buddies. To create this card, I first adhered a patchwork blanket of Designer Series Paper to a layer of Marina Mist cardstock. I then stamped the Button Buddies piggie in Marina Mist on Whisper White cardstock and embellished his snout with a Pretty In Pink button. The sentiment is from the Ciao Baby (129648) set, which you can find in the new Spring Occasions catalog. Stampin' Up provided us with a new 7/8" Scalloped Circle Punch (129404) to go along with this set. For a finishing touch, I added a slip of Marina Mist 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon (129292), which is also a new offering in the Spring Catalog. The ribbon comes in Melon Mambo (129293) and Old Olive (129291) as well.

Thank you for stopping by today to check out my UDI Color Challenge inspired card. Check out what the other stampers created for you at UDI by clicking here. Have a great day and Happy Stampin'! EdieB

Secret Garden Bundle

Hello Stampers! Today I have a birthday card I made for you using the new Secret Garden Bundle (131099 clear mount) from the Spring Occasions catalog. This bundle includes a matching stamp set and set of framelit dies which eliminates the need to hand cut the intricate flower patterns of your stamped images.

For this card, I stamped the flowers in Riding Hood Red and leaves in Always Artichoke. They are mounted on an oval frame which I cut using the new Ovals Collection framelit dies (129381), which you will also find in the Spring Occasions catalog. The Whisper White oval is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots (117335) embossing folder and the outer oval frame is cut from Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (125406). The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs (122497) stamp set and stamped in Riding Hood Red. I hand trimmed the banner and mounted it on a slip of Riding Hood Red cardstock. Finally, the flowers are accented with a Pearl Basic Jewel (119247).
Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Secret Garden, Petite Pairs
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper
Inks: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke
Other: Secret Garden Framelit Dies, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Pearl Basic Jewels

I hope you enjoyed this card today. Thank you for stopping and Happy Stampin'! EdieB

Stamp to the Max Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp to the Max January Blog Hop. This month we are featuring stamp sets and supplies from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. If you are hopping along with us this morning, you may have arrived from Laura Widdison's blog. I am number seven on the list of bloggers.

I am sharing with you today a set of three Valentine's cards I made featuring the Hearts a Flutter stamp set (129252 clear/129249 wood), matching Framelits Dies (130159) and More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper (129309). If you love the Hearts a Flutter set and can't live without matching dies, Stampin' Up! has bundled these products for us at a discount (131097 clear/131098 wood).

This layout is a simple one which I go to often without regret. It not only showcases the fabulous Designer Series Paper but also the different shapes offered to us in this new bundle, including the flags and hearts. The soft colors of the More Amore DSP are romantic and just perfect for your sweetheart or friend lucky enough to receive a Valentine. I was not a fan of pairing Real Red and Primrose Petals at first, but love the result when set to card. I added a lot of texture to these cards using both the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120175) and the Square Lattice Folder (119976).

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Hearts A Flutter, Wacky Wishes (hostess set)
Cardstock: Primrose Petals, Real Red, Pool Party, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black, Primrose Petals Classic Inks
Other: Hearts A Flutter Framelit Dies, Vintage Wallpaper & Square Lattic Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Small Heart punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Swallowtail

The Stampin' Up! Spring Occasions catalog is live today! This catalog is one of the best ever with a wonderful selection of new stamping products, including this amazing butterfly background stamp - Swallowtail. The detail of this stamp is perfect for heat embossing. I embossed it in three colors: Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, and Tempting Turquoise.

This simple set of Thank You notes was a quick project. I stamped the Swallowtail with Versamark ink and heat embossed them in the above-mentioned colors; then, adhered the images onto Early Espresso cardstock. The sentiment is from my favorite set, Curly Cute. A simple embellishment of a knotted slip of ribbon finishes the look.

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Swallowtail (129216), Curly Cute (120510)
Cardstock: Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Inks: Versamark, Early Espresso
Other: Embossing Powder in Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso 1/4 Satin Ribbon

Hope you enjoyed this set of cards. You may shop anytime at my Stampin' Up! website - www.ediestamps.stampinup.net. Have a great day and Happy Stampin'!

New Year's

Happy New Year's! This card is stunning in real life with the silver glitter paper. This shot doesn't really show the bling. But, anyway, the New Year stamp is one of the new stamps offered in Stampin' Up's! single stamp collection. This is a fun card and easy card to make since you need only to heat emboss the focal image and then assemble your layers. I did use the big shot to trim the scalloped edge on the focal image, then added a few crystal gems and silver cord to finish it off.

You can shop anytime at my on-line store www.ediestamps.stampinup.net. Thank you! Wishing you the best in 2013 and, Happy Stampin'! EdieB

Sweet Threads Three Ways

Hello Stampers. Today, I have for you Stampin' Up's! new cross-stitch Sweet Threads Simply Sent kit which you can order from the Spring Occasions Mini Catalog beginning January 3. This kit includes supplies to create eight cards including, Lucky Limeade and Primrose Petals pre-printed cards, die-cut patter pieces, thread and needles.

I like the polka dot pattern and colors of the pre-printed cards, but using a flat, single-layered card is not for me; so, I did what paper crafters do -I pulled out my Stampin' Trimmer and cut them up. Here you will see the results of my destruction. I like that I could mix the two colors and added Basic Gray cardstock for a nice neutral contrast, along with 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon and Silver Basics Designer Buttons as embellishment.

The die-cuts included in the kit are a scalloped rectangle as seen on the card to the left above. However, I actually sent the focal images for the other two cards through the Big Shot. I was able to die-cut them using framelits after I completed the cross-stitching. I like the variety of shapes for the focal images.

Here are closer views of the three cards. You will be able to order this kit as well as everything else in the Spring Occasions catalog beginner January 3. In the meantime, check out the Clearance Rack and shop now at my Stampin' Up! web site www.ediestamps.stampinup.net

Stamp to the MAX New Catalog Blog Hop

Hello Stampers and welcome to the Stamp to the MAX New Catalog Blog Hop. If you are following along, you probably arrived here from Sharon Loring's blog. If not, the blogs are listed below along with each blogger's address.

I have created two colorful notecards for you today. When I say "notecards" I mean that I did not include a sentiment on the front of the cards so I can use these anytime to drop a line to a friend. Both cards feature heat embossing techniques and, of course, new stamp sets from the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.

The first card features the Pleasant Poppies background stamp embossed on Whisper White cardstock using Tangerine Tango embossing powder. This is the first background stamp that is available in clear mount (to the best of my recollection). The card base is Baja Breeze cardstock layered with Tangerine Tango cardstock and a scalloped Baja Breeze border trimmed with Adorning Accents Edgelits and texturized with Adorning Accents Folders. A fun strip of Floral District DSP gives this card a bit more color while a slip of Pool Party Seam Binding finishes it nicely.

The next card features the butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set stamped in Summer Starfruit on Whisper White cardstock and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder to give it lots of sparkle. Each butterfly is embellished with a cute little 5-cent postage stamp which I made using the new Lovely Little Labels stamp set and coordinating Little Labels Punch Pack.

You will see that I did a new fun fold on this Marina Mist card by using the coordinating Large Scallop Edgelit and Delicate Designs Folders. The cool thing about the edgelits is that you can trim two pieces of cardstock at one time. This makes it easy to trim both the front and back of the card so they match up perfectly. No more guessing :)

To stabilize the card somewhat, I attached it to a 4-1/4 inch x 5-1/2 inch piece of Midnight Muse cardstock. Lastly, I would like to mention the Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon adorning this sparkly treat. The Stitched Satin Ribbon is available in all five 2012-2014 In Color choices.

I hope you enjoyed my card creations. The next stop on the blog hop is Elizabeth Harris. Thank you for stopping by and happy stampin'!
